[BTS #3] Why I Don’t Want Some of You to Buy This Course

Welcome to the 3rd edition of The Songwriting Habit behind-the-scenes newsletter. Last week, I shared what we’ll cover in this course.

Today I want to clarify who should and shouldn’t consider buying this course.

As I’ve been building it, there’s a temptation to make it for every kind of songwriter. But targeting everyone isn’t effective. To be impactful, I need to be specific.

This course is for people with a passion for songwriting who are exhausted and time-limited due to competing obligations. It’s for my friend David, a new parent, juggling diapers and running a business. This is for Anna, with a demanding career. It’s for Cindy, a stay-at-home mom. And Justin, a graduate student.

These are just a few examples, but all these songwriters feel like a piece of them is missing.

This is NOT for:

  • Anyone seeking a step-by-step guide for every aspect of songwriting.
  • Anyone looking for a quick hack to write songs faster or better.
  • Anyone expecting this course to magically create 2-3 hours in their day.
  • Anyone unable to commit at least 5 minutes per day.
  • Anyone seeking instant gratification without a commitment to a longer-term vision.

I hope this doesn’t sound harsh. I’m simply trying to be clear. The Songwriting Habit won’t be a magic pill. However, if you can apply what I teach to your situation, it will help you consistently move from idea to a finished song, over and over again.

I hope this newsletter clarifies who this course is for and who it isn’t for.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next Monday with another BTS email!

Aaron
